The crash happened on Vallis Road in the early hours of Saturday morning

An 18-year-old man has died following a crash on a rural road, police have said.

Emergency services were called to the A362 Vallis Road near Frome, Somerset, following the incident at about 01:35 GMT on Saturday 8 February.

The teenager sustained critical injuries in the crash, which involved a blue Mazda, and was taken to hospital. He died three days later, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Another man who was also in the car required hospital treatment for an injury that was not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The road was closed until Saturday lunchtime to allow collision investigators to carry out enquiries and for recovery work to be completed.

A police spokesperson said: “We would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed what happened, or have relevant dashcam footage, to please contact us.”
