A motorway will partially close overnight so emergency resurfacing work can take place after a huge diesel spill.
Lanes one and two of the M5, between J24 and J23, near Bridgwater, Somerset, will be shut from 21:00 GMT on Thursday until 06:00 GMT on Friday at the latest.
Earlier in the day diesel spilled from a lorry spread half a mile (0.8km) down the northbound carriageway.
Drivers have been told to expect residual delays as lanes two and three have reopened to traffic.
A National Highways spokesperson said the incident was caused by a “ruptured fuel tank”, and the route had been closed since 10:20 GMT.
Drivers have been urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.
