ZURICH (Reuters) – Last year’s semi-finalists Ajax Amsterdam clung on for a tense 0-0 draw in searing heat away to APOEL Nicosia in the first leg of their Champions League playoff tie on Tuesday.

MLS awards expansion franchise to St. Louis

(Reuters) – Major League Soccer awarded St. Louis an expansion franchise on Tuesday, and it will be the first female majority-owned team in league history.

The club will begin playing in 2022 in a new downtown soccer stadium as the MLS’s 28th team.
