Life in Somerset can always produce some stunning images, and this week we’re showcasing some of the best.

There’s the Weston Beach Races, Taunton Town fans donning mullet wigs in honour of their star player and a giant moon in the water at Bridgwater.

Horse racing was also back, with the first meeting of the autumn at Wincanton.

Orange mullet: Taunton Town Football Club says it is regularly selling dozens of ginger mullet wigs at home games, thanks to the success of its captain Tom Smith.

Tom joined the club this season and has regularly found the back of the net – while showing off his unique hair style.

Flying sand: Weston-super-Mare’s Beach Races brought the sound of revving engines to the town again as riders took on the six-mile circuit, battling the elements and each other.

Sunken moon: Artist Luke Jerram has chosen Bridgwater to debut his latest touring installation, Fallen Moon. Based on data from NASA, the internally-lit sculpture has a diameter of 10m and floats on the water.

Life savers: A fisherman who was rescued when his dinghy overturned has thanked the team who saved his life. Allan Grant’s boat capsized in the River Banwell near Weston-super-Mare.

Strawberry Line: A new footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists is to open on Somerset’s Strawberry Line.

The B3136 connects West Shepton to Pilton and the A361 towards Glastonbury but often experiences lots of traffic.
