Opens with the absolute welcoming groovy conversation ‘Flip Me Upside Down’. No one does indie rock quite like The Wombats - use of synth and layering emotes warm fuzzies. Pure 2008 nostalgia with a 2022 bitter twist. Then we’re honoured with ‘This Car Drives All by Itself’. Has the ambience of a surreal football chant whilst giving Tesla realness. Next we have ‘If You Ever Leave, I’m Coming with You’, pure Wombats energy, hits all the right audio taste buds for new and old fans. ‘Ready for the High’ a jumpy number for the live shows. Filthy synth for the disco dancers, paired with a clap sample screaming for a crowd to join, then in a moment takes us arms wide open for a cheeky mosh. ‘Method to the Madness’ brings us back together, giving a moment for self reflection and a healthy display of anger infused sing-a-long. Americana guitar guides us through ‘People Don’t Change People, Time Does’. The Wombats once again impress with cynically catchy lyrics, loaded with introspection and paired with intelligent simplicity. ‘Everything I Love Is Going to Die’, a personal classic, a cult novella of a song. If the last 20 months was edited into a montage this would be the perfect soundtrack. ‘Work Is Easy, Life Is Hard’ carries the energy through to ‘Wildfire’’s cheeky funky number. ‘Don’t Poke the Bear’, makes encourages the listener to embrace their inner playground childishness while delivering mental health allegories filled with storybook references. The penultimate track of the album ‘Worry’ wraps its arms around you like a caffeinated induced panic attack. Outro ‘Fix Yourself, Then The World (Reach Beyond Your Fingers)’, gifts a soundtrack to disassociating. Is it a hopeful ? Is riddled with cynical despair? Definitely. Will love it? You decide. 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
