Here at Digital Hits One we are very happy to announce that Ofcom the UK broadcasting regulator has invited applications to provide an FM service for our area, we submitted an expression of interest in November 2017. After reviewing the expression of interest received Ofcom formally invited applicants on the 11th December 2018 to submit proposals for a fulltime FM service to the community of North Somerset with the submissions closing date and time of 3pm Tuesday 26th March 2019.

The board of directors for Digital Hits Network Limited a not-for-profit company have subsequently submitted an application on 10th January 2019 detailing our plans to bring DH1 to the region. Once the application is received Ofcom will initially look to see whether a suitable FM frequency is available to accommodate our desired coverage area at this point if one is potentially available, they progress the application on for further assessment against their criteria required to award a 5-year licence. In the event of no suitable frequency being available the application is rejected.

After careful planning and our own independent assessment, we believe there is a suitable FM frequency available however this by no means guarantees Ofcom will allow the use of any frequencies we have identified.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported us with our proposal to bring local radio back. A special thank you is given to John Penrose MP (Weston-super-Mare Constituency) and James Heappey MP (Wells Constituency) for supporting our application.
