A 15-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with murder after a stabbing in north London at the weekend.

The suspect, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared at the Old Bailey via video-link from Feltham Young Offenders Institution for a 10-minute hearing.

He is accused of the murder of Ali Baygoren, 17, from Tottenham, who was stabbed in Orchard Place, close to the Tottenham Hotspur football ground, at around 12.10pm on Saturday.

The defendant, wearing a grey sweatshirt and a face mask, was not asked to enter a plea.

He was remanded in custody until a plea hearing set for 28 October, with a provisional trial date of April 2023.
